Hi All,
This past fall, as I do each year, I kept count of the different species that
passed through my yard and surrounding area during the fall migration here on
Compton Mt. I kept count from August 24 to October 15. I actually counted on
only 35 days between those two dates. I counted 66 species - 1, 168 individual
birds. Of those 24 were Warbler species with a total of 400 Warblers that
passed through. Following are the different species listed according to the
abundance of each species. Just out of curiosity I separated the warblers from
the rest of the migrants. Those species in bold were either rare or at least
unusual for this area. Some species, like the hummingbirds, thrashers, catbirds
or pewees, may have been counted more than once if they stayed around for more
than one day. There was no way to know if that was the case.
