All,
I would be much indebted if you could distribute the announcement below to
your respective organizations/listserves - many of the current BBS vacancies
are in SW VA, as well as one on the Eastern Shore and one in northern VA.
Thanks!

Sergio

VA Birders,

It's that time of year again when we begin recruiting for volunteers to help
fill vacant routes of the North American Breeding Bird Survey (BBS). The BBS
is the longest-running North American breeding landbird survey, and is
invaluable to the bird conservation community for tracking the status and
trends of breeding bird populations. If you have good eyesight and hearing
(including the ability to hear high-pitched vocalizations), good bird
identification skills by both sight and sound, access to suitable
transportation to complete the survey, and can commit to running the survey
for at least 2 years (but preferably longer), please consider picking up a
route. The location of vacant routes can be viewed at

information on the BBS, please visit the website at

depends entirely on volunteers for its continued success. Thanks to all of
you who have participated or are currently participating in the BBS - your
efforts are appreciated.
