On Thursday, the 4th, birding was pretty good here on the mountain. The highlight of the day was a Lincoln's Sparrow at the yard stream, the first one this season. Hawks were on the move also with 3 Red-shouldereds being in the air at one time and a Red-tailed soon after. One of the two Red-breasted Nuthatches I have been seing came to the stream. A Ruby-crowned Kinglet was in constant motion while feeding in several shrubs.Thrushes were in evidence with 3 Eastern Bluebirds, 2 Swainson's Thrushes and 2 Wood Thrushes found. A few warbler species were still passing through which included a couple of Tennessees, a male Cape May, 2 Magnolias, an Ovebird and a female American Redstart. One male Rose-breasted Grosbeak was feeding on sunflower seeds at a platform feeder. Roger Mayhorn Compton Mt
