A morning hike up Caney Island Branch this morning yielded 32 species of birds, including some resident warblers: Kentucky, Hooded, Black-and-white, Ovenbird, Northern Parula, Yellow-throated, Black-throated Green, Redstart, Chat, and Cerulean. Noticeably quiet were Blue-winged and Worm-eating. I watched a female Kentucky feeding a youngster, and during the hike I heard many faint chips and twitters I took to be fledglings. Other species included the following birds: Scarlet Tanager Pileated Woodpecker Downy Woodpecker Northern Flicker Red-tailed Hawk Northern Cardinal Tufted Titmouse American Crow Blue Jay American Goldfinch Acadian Flycatcher Song Sparrow Wild Turkey Yellow-billed Cuckoo Mourning Dove Eastern Phoebe American Robin Carolina Wren Tree Swallow Wood Thrush Eastern Towhee Red-eyed Vireo Michelle Talbott
