A surprising number of waterfowl on Little Laurel Lake this morning! A
raft, yes, I said raft, of more than 100 ducks, including Redhead and both Lesser
and Greater Scaup were resting on the lake until one of the cabin guests made
an appearance on their deck. The ducks flushed and circled over the lake for
several minutes, making a sound resembling heavy traffic each time they passed
over. I believe the close-up pic of the male Redhead also has both Greater and
Lesser Scaup females, with the one in back being the Greater. Let me know if
you agree or disagree. The largest number of waterfowl recorded previously was
the more than 80 found by Roger and Lynda Mayhorn a few years ago. Anyway, for
our little "neck of the woods" that's fairly exciting!
