Today was the first day of the St George (Utah) Bird Festival. I had the pleasure of birding with Rick Fridell, Washington County most outstanding birder. Our main areas were reservoirs but we also visited a sage brush/cactus habitat. I saw over 50 species: in order of most interest: Greater White-Fronted Geese Sage Thrasher Prairie Falcon Dunlin Spotted Sandpiper Am. Bald Eagle Greater Scaup Tundra Swans Cactus and rock Wren American Pipit Ferruginous Hawk Western Meadowlark Western, horned, earred grebe American White Pelican Cackling Goose Tomorrow we'll visit a riparian area near an agricultural site. Come out and let's get a few life birds .
