Lynda, David Raines and I were supposed to teach a class on birds to some boy scouts in the Breaks Park today so they could earn their Bird Study Merit Badge, but because of the snow the class has been postponed until March 13th. We had lots of birds at our feeders today, but nothing unusual. I counted 24 Cardinals, 22 Mourning Doves, 23 Dark-eyed Juncos (snow birds), our female Hairy Woodpecker that has taken up residence here this winter, two Red-bellied Woodpeckers, a couple of Downy Woodpeckers, Carolina Wrens, Carolina Chickadees, Nuthatches, Titmice, Goldfinches and House Finches. Yesterday I had a Yellow-bellied Sapsucker in the yard and a Red-shouldered Hawk was calling nearby. Roger Mayhorn Compton Mt
