Gary, Thanks for the list and the photos. I'm no expert on reptiles, but after looking in my Peterson's Field Guide to Reptiles and Amphibians it looks like your snake is a Black Rat Snake. A Racer is completely black underneath except for white on the chin and throat. The snake in your photo looks like the white extends as far as can be seen on the neck and underbelly. Maybe someone else on the listserve would have a comment about it. I don't know why it would be out in November. Maybe it is just late looking for a place to den for the winter.
