Dear All BSCB members and friends, the past 48 hours have been difficult times.
Yesterday, our governor, Mr. Charlie Baker declared a state of emergency
throughout the Commonwealth. The number of confirmed cases of the Coronavirus
has multiplied. Although actual casualties from the virus are minimal the virus
has proven to be very contagious, even to those not typically consider in at
risk populations. The Bay State Council of the Blind's officers and directors
met tonight to determine the next steps. With an abundance of caution and
concern for safety we have voted unanimously to postpone our 2020 Spring
Conference. This comes with deep regret and sorrow as I personally was looking
forward to getting together with all of you. We cannot state an exact date for
the rescheduling of our conference as this health crisis can be rather
unpredictable. One thing is certain is that as soon as it is safe and practical
to do so we will be hard at work planning on rescheduling our event and we once
again will have the opportunity to all be together. For those of you that have
paid registration fees and/or sponsorships we will be issuing refunds as soon
as possible. Once again, this is the last thing I wanted to have to write but
it is good that we are all safe and sound and this is only a temporary
set-back. Please feel free to contact us with any questions or comments.
Very truly yours,
Frank Ventura
