Ya I think I just need more time trying freewalk. I did a full game of
Ghost Town Mine Ride freewalking a while back, but Fallout 4 just about
puts me down instantly :p

Free-walking is the only option in The Forrest. YOu can practice
free-motion moving in a few games. Rec Room has free move option, you can
try that for a few minutes and stop when you get queasy. Don't force
yourself through the sickness, just stop once you feel it for a bit and try
again another time. It took me like, 2.5 weeks of jumping into Hover
junkers and moving my hovercraft around for a minute or two then
quitting for me to finally get over it.

Ginger is rumored to help with the motion sickness as well. -Pickup some
ginger ale.

Taking into account the extra $100 for the vive audiostrap, Oculus
is a great deal. I'd say the controllers are better feeling than the 
Vive,
but you won't be able to upgrade them to the Valve knuckles when they

out.  I have never minded the vive controllers.

There isn't a great solution for wireless oculus. If you want
wireless,  it's vive, baby.

Really, you can't go too wrong with any option out there,
even the slightly crappier Mixed Reality headsets.

check it out for yourself (or anyone else! Fodder, you and 
your wife should

demoing it, it's
