If I were to do it, I think I would go that route too. That industry is so
up in the air right now that at least if all of these companies fall apart
(and that became a very real scenario this year with some potential bills
being passed at the state level) you'll at least own everything and pick
the panels that are best for you to end up holding the bag on. RMP has so
much money invested in our lawmakers I think it's just a matter of time
before something slips past that will take the incentives away.

I don't see any game changing panel tech coming out other than gradual
efficiency increase. Though, cheaper, yeah. And i think mostly on the
install pieces, it's a money grab atm, I believe. Battery tech simply just
isn't there yet.
Rocky Power does net metering now. You get credits for unused power
sent back to the grid and it resets once a year. They don't pay you for
feeding them and charge you $9 a month for connection fees. Sucks, but the
math still works out if you plan the size of the system right with your
usage.
