Yeah, win7 is your problem. You have to bake in USB 3.0 drivers into your
install media for it to work.

mouse that I've tried in all the USB 2.0 slots, but it's a no go.
It works perfectly in the BIOS, boot menus, advanced windows startup,

down and nothing works. The only thing I've read online that I should try
is a PS/2 adapter or keyboard/mouse to get it logged in and allow it to
download the necessary drivers.
