Amazon is one of the only streaming services I know that say it is okay to
stream in the classroom. Netflix and Hulu specifically prohibit it.
We buy a Movie License USA school license each year, so our extended day and
movies at lunch can be shown. (Fair Use only allows showing of videos in a
class with students enrolled in that class for a specific educational goal.)
According to Movie License USA, any movie from a studio they cover, can be
shown for any purpose on campus.
So once again in the gray area of Copyright – if I can legally show the video
because of the license, can I use Netflix to show it? As technology continues
to morph, copyright and fair use continue to be a challenge to understand and
apply.

Mary,
We use Infobase's Classroom Video on Demand AND we buy as many videos as
possible on "Amazon Video" so teachers can stream them in their classrooms
through the library's Amazon Prime account. We also have a subscription to
Netflix. For those films not available to stream we still buy the dvd. We have
eliminated all VHS tapes as our technology for that has disappeared.
