People often assume social studies teachers simply help students memorize
dates and events. But what they really do is teach students how to think
critically about the world around them. They help students learn how to
analyze sources and text, contextualize events in time and place, look for
the story that's not there, ask questions, and much more. In short, social
studies teachers help students learn to think like a historian.

To honor the meaningful contributions social studies teachers make to
students everyday, we're launching our three-week Think Like a Historian
contest for all Graphite registered users. All users are eligible to
participate, no matter which subject they teach. All contest participants
with entries that meet the criteria (see below) will be entered into a
raffle to win one of five $50 Amazon gift cards. It's easy to get involved
