Hi ,
I geek out over copyright law.
A couple years ago, I ran a survey of our faculty on copyright law and made
a corresponding FAQ sheet. Perhaps this will be helpful for others, too.
Mei, I can't wait to see what you create!
Have a great week!

Hello All,
We are updating our teacher handbook and the section on copyright and fair
use is quite out of date. Does anyone have guidelines they would be willing
to share? In addition to explaining general fair use principles, I'd like
to provide the most reassuring answers possible to a list of FAQs.
Areas we'd like to cover:
1) Making copies -- for either paper or digital dissemination to students.
Text, images, music, video, software.
2) The difference between a one time in-class presentation vs. a
presentation shared with students
3) Showing video from DVDs or online services such as YouTube as well as
streaming services such as Netflix or Amazon Prime.
4) How teachers should guide students who are also taking text, images,
music, video, etc. for assignments. Does it change if it's for an
extracurricular presentation, e.g. a club event, a science fair, a rally
video, etc.? Does it change if the audience includes members of the outside
community? takes place off-campus?
5) Have you encountered any other situations that others might want to
address?
I'll be happy to share whatever I compile.
Thank you!
Mei
