A wide knowledge of children’s literature -- from picture books through young adult titles -- is essential for Readers’ Advisory of students, teachers, and parents. Candidate must also have a strong knowledge of and commitment to teaching 21st century digital literacy skills. Job Activities: - Encourages wide reading in diverse genres and formats both for learning and enjoyment (Readers’ Advisory). - Teaches library and information literacy skills to grades Young K through fifth grade during regular weekly library classes. - Collaborates with teachers, especially Young K through fifth grade. - Supervises parent library liaisons and works with the library committee. - Supervises student library volunteers. - Updates Scope and Sequence of Library Skills, Collection Development Policy, and other library documents as needed. - Selects books and electronic resources to support the curriculum and student reading needs. - Develops, catalogs, and maintains the collection.
