Another free summer reading idea to consider -- Bookopolis offers two Summer
Reading Challenges <https://bookopolis.com/#/summer-reading-2017> to
motivate kids to read and allow them to earn free books.
1. *Take the 1,000 Reading Minute Challenge *- Log 1,000 minutes between
6/5/17 and 8/25/17 and earn a FREE BOOK!*log 1,000 or more on your
Bookopolis reading log and we'll send readers a free book
2. *Play Read-O* (reading bingo) - fill out one of our Read-O cards about
types of books or how/where you read and if you earn a Bingo, we'll send
you a a free book.
We also have curated Summer Reading lists by grade and genre for 2nd-8th
graders.
All students need is a free Bookopolis account (that you can set up as

MA is trying something a little different this year. Rather than pick
specific books to read, we're running a reading contest and offering prizes
for students who read 5, 15, and 25 or more books. The student who reads
the most books will win a big prize, including being announced at Assembly.
Students will sign up before the semester ends, keep track of their books
over the summer, and then meet back the first week of school to report and
talk about some of the stuff they read. We're also being really flexible
about what counts as reading - including comics, novelettes, audiobooks,
etc.
This is the first time we've done anything like this. These programs
usually work for public libraries, so we're confident we'll have at least a
few kids sign up.
