I know it's nearing the end of the school year and everyone is
overwhelmingly busy, but if you have 5 minutes to spare and are interested
in library services in relationship to providing accurate
resources/programming around sex ed for preschool-teens, would you take a

Along with three colleagues, I am organizing the 2020 ACL Institute (if
you're not familiar, this is the annual PD put on by the Northern
California Association of Children's Librarians, usually held during April
in San Francisco). We are working to build an engaging conference focusing
on how libraries can offer accessible, accurate, and inclusive information
for children, teens, and families; how to openly promote sexual and
relationship health resources while still respecting the nuances and needs
of our communities; and how to identify sexual abuse and trafficking and
provide safe spaces for those in need. This is a topic with resonance for
all library professionals working with youth and families, and we hope to
draw a diverse crowd of attendees representing public and school libraries.
In particular, I'm hoping we're able to draw lots of school librarians -
which is why I'm reaching out to BAISL!
As part of our planning, we're looking for feedback on what has and hasn't
worked in the past, and what topics and session formats people would like
to see in next year's Institute. Would you be willing to take a few minutes
to fill out this brief survey, and to share it with other librarians who
might not be members of ACL? You don't have to have previous Institute
attendance to complete the survey.
