Is anyone using Alexandria for self-check out? My stumbling block is that I
don't want to have to assign kids patron barcode cards. I'd like for them
to be able to find their account by name instead.

Hi Debra,

We have self-check out for our K-8 library using Destiny Quest. Generally
we help K-2nd graders during class by passing out check out cards, but
anyone who comes to the library before or after school (teachers, parents,
students) are welcome and encouraged to use the self-check out station,
which is on our desk. Since Destiny has very distinct beeps for the right
and wrong clicks of buttons, we generally know when people need help, but
yes, the kids do make mistakes and items do leave the library without being
checked out sometimes. I would attribute very few books lost from our
collection this way in the long run, though.

We also have 3 iPad stations in the library that students can use to
search Destiny Quest and to sign in so that they can put books on hold.
Please stop by if you'd like to see our Destiny Quest self-check out

Hope this helps,

Dear Colleagues,

Do any of you have a self-check out circulation desk? If so, do you
have it for lower School, middle School, or high school?

Thanks for feedback,
