Do you know an adventurous American middle- or high-school teacher,
librarian or curriculum specialist? Someone eager to learn from another
culture? Someone who can connect with others regardless of barriers of
language or politics? Help us spread the word-- the Russian/American
Educators' Exchange is taking applications for 2015!

In 2014, we sent 20 American school teachers to Russia to exchange folklore
and meet with their Russian counterparts. It was such a success everyone
decided to keep on going! The program grant covers all travel, food and
lodging, including an orientation meeting before departure and flights
between New York and Moscow. While funds last, participants who live at
least 200 miles from New York City can also apply for up to $200
reimbursement of their travel costs between their homes and JFK.

We will assist with obtaining a Russian visa, but participants will be
responsible for most of the visa fee -- your cost will be around $300, more
if you require rush service.

All educators who work with middle- or high-school students or curriculum
are encouraged to apply. Preference will be given to those whose schools
are in rural areas --- Census Bureau Locale Codes 41,42 or 43.

We've scheduled 3 more trips for America teachers in the spring and summer
of 2015. That's three more teams of middle- and high-school teachers who
will immerse themselves in Russian village life while documenting the
marvelous stories, songs and rituals of traditional Russian culture.

In addition, the American teachers will present lessons on American folklore
in the local school, and connect with their Russian peers -- the local
teachers. Russians and Americans alike have found this a deeply moving
experience. "We found out how much American teachers love their students,
and how hard they work to help them learn" said one Russian teacher. And
"When we said goodbye we were all in tears!" remembered her American
counterpart. Work from previous expeditions on the site.

The Russian/American Educators' Exchange is a program of American Friends of
Russian Folklore, with funding from the US/Russian Peer-to-Peer Dialogue
Program and travel support from the Russian & East European Institute of
Indiana University.
