Hi everyone,
Sorry for the delay in response! Science in Context would be a fabulous
addition to our BAISL package, I agree. I have a time set to talk to Will
Marshall at Gale, and I will be in touch when I know more.

York School is also purchasing Science in Context separately and would
love to see it included in the consortium bundle!
Thanks, Carla

Stevenson would, too! It rounds out the package - and we have been

Our science classes use Gale's Science in Context for general reference,

Bellarmine still has the *McGraw-Hill Encyclopedia of Science &

set and gets very little use. We are going to weed a lot of our reference
books next year but for now I plan on keeping this set.
We also have the HUGE *McGraw-Hill Concise Encyclopedia of Science &
Technology*, Fourth edition, c1997.
I think the majority of science research here is being completed using
the Science database and the resources in Gale.

Hi, Cathy et al --
just wanted to echo Cathy's question. We've been having trouble for a
couple of years finding general science encyclopedias in print. It seems
they've gotten very subject specific. Perhaps science encyclopedias in
print are going the way of the Britannica? Ouch, wait a minute, just saw
this: Encyclopedia Britannica's COO jumps to death
<http://www.tribuneindia.com/news/nation/story/237593.html>. Perhaps too
apt a metaphor.
Anyhow -- I'd also be interested in what if any general science
encyclopedias people use -- print or digital. thanks!

Hi folks - two questions, as I pack up my library for construction:
1. Would anyone like a set of print New Grove Dictionary of Music &
Musicians? Which isn't so new - it's a 1980 edition. It's 20 volumes - a
space hog unless it's being used. We subscribe to the online one and this
never gets used.
2. I have a Grolier New Book of Popular Science. Copyright 2002 = not so
new. It looks like they aren't making this any more, but our 6th and 7th
graders user this often. Does anyone have a good recent replacement for a
general science encyclopedia for middle school?
Thanks - Cathy
