Hi Mei, We use a program called Print Manager to track student printing. Each student has a print account with $12.00 for printing each year. When they run out of money on their account, they give us money to reload their account. Very few students We charge the students $.10 for color printing and about $.03 for black & white (for each side). Our IT department explains the print account during Frosh Orientation, and strongly encourages economical approaches to printing. We reinforce the message with our daily encounters with student printing. We do find the same problems that others have listed - jobs printed and left on the printer, large jobs that monopolize the printer, etc. If we hear the printer going non-stop, we usually investigate and often cancel the job. We are also 1-1 iPad, and have seen a drop in printing in some areas, but an increase in others.
