Hi there Cassy,
I'm interested in helping to organize and possibly presenting as well.

Hi BAISL Members,
At our meeting last week there was great interest in Katina Papson-Rigby's
idea of a POCIS Roundtable on how librarians support diversity,
equity, and inclusion in their schools. Katina is a POCIS Executive board
member and the Director of Community and Inclusion at St. Matthew's. Liz
Price Patel at Redwood Day School has stepped up to host the Roundtable
for a half day in January or February.
POCIS will promote the event, but Katina is looking for a few librarians
who could plan the programming. *Please respond if you are interested in
taking leadership of this event and designing what it could be. *
Also, there is so much value in sharing what we are all doing in our
schools around building empathy and inclusion. *Please consider
presenting at the Roundtable on how you are engaged in equity work on your
campus.* Have you done a diversity audit of your collection? Do you
have lessons/projects that elevate voices not traditionally valued or heard
in education? Have you helped to expand the thinking of what is "literary
canon" at your school to include more #own voices and a diversity of
perspectives?
Sharing your work at the Roundtable could include a presentation, a poster
session, sitting on a panel discussion, etc., depending on the format of
the event. Please respond with your interest in participating and a brief
idea of what you'd like to share.
Thank you, everyone! You all are amazing!
Cassy
