Thanks for all of the info, Kevin. We are very interested in joining, but
probably will not be able to commit until the next fiscal year has started in
July. We have just under 400 students. –Theresa Hubert, Central Catholic High

Hi Sarah,
Happy to talk about this by phone, but everyone is going to be able to pick
what authentication method works best for their school. Since you are an
existing customer, we will be able to move over you current authentication
without any additional work from you.

Kevin,
you could talk about this on the phone call, but I have just implemented
integration through Follett Destiny to allow Google signon to Overdrive. Could
you talk to how this might be affected by the new arrangement now please.

Jole, you ask a good question about customizing the interface and at least to
start, it will need to be generic. To get a better idea, here is an example of
what students will see the very first time they pick their school and log-in to
the ISLDA Shared Collection in MN and for MISBO which covers independent
schools in the southeast US:
http://islda.lib.overdrive.com
http://misbo.lib.overdrive.com
So unless we decide on some other naming convention (e.g. Greater Bay Area
Independent Schools), students in BAISL group will see “BAISL Shared Digital
Collection Digital Library.”

Hi,
I would also like a copy of the order form. We have less than 500 students.
Another question:
will it be possible for our individual schools to continue to have our
Overdrive pages branded with our particular school's name? As:
[cid:image001.png@01D2A7D4.ABFEBEF0]
or will it need to say BAISL?
Thanks!

Hi Alice,
Happy to have you join. The cost for a school with between 500 and 750 students
is just $500 and 100 percent of that amount will be used to buy content in the
shared collection.
You will also see an option on the order form to fund a sub-account (or what we
call a Digital Book Account). It’s optional to fund it upfront, but many
schools have been doing that in order to be able to customize access for
students at your school.

Hi Kevin,
I still have not had any word from my administration on this, but we might
still be interested. We are a private K-12 school of about 700 students. What
would be the cost for us to join?
Thank you,

Hi Cathy,
Yes, your entire $750 amount will go towards the shared collection (as a school
with between 750 and 1000 students), but I have no doubt that we can make sure
to spend the appropriate amount towards 6-12 content if there happen to be
larger investments from secondary schools or there are more secondary schools
joining. In other words, we want to make sure the collection provides the most
equitable and impactful access possible based on who is participating.
Hope you can join one of the calls if you have the time.

One question, one comment:
1. Does all of the $750 go toward the shared collection? Meaning that even
though I'm a grades 6-12 school, some of the money I put in will be used for
elementary level books? Not a problem since in that scenario the elementary
schools would be paying for upper level books as well - just want to be clear.
I'm assuming it all goes into one big pot.
2. I've decided to go ahead with this. Will try to join the conference call
tomorrow, though the library remodel is keeping me hopping these days.
Thanks Kevin!

Hi Everyone,
I heard that there are still some more questions about becoming part of an
OverDrive shared collection for BAISL members and as a result I am setting
aside two times this week to review with them with you by phone.
My hope is you can make it at one of these two times and there is no need to
sign up ahead of time:
Tuesday, March 28th @ 3:00pm – Call 866-740-1260<tel:(866)%20740-1260> and
enter access code (5736844)
Wednesday, March 29th @ 9:00am – Call 866-740-1260<tel:(866)%20740-1260> and
enter access code (5736844)
In the meantime, I want to provide some additional resources from various
sections of our website:

Blog Post featuring ISLDA:
http://blogs.overdrive.com/front-page-school-news/2017/02/14/launch-a-shared-collection/
I have read some of the questions regarding the purchasing of content and also
want to address those concerns via e-mail as best I can:
My thought is that any titles that are deemed too controversial for the shared
collection will not be purchased in the shared collection and since we are
setting up a sub-account for every participating school (we call this a Digital
Book Account), you will have the ability to add titles you deem appropriate for
your students even if it’s not considered appropriate for the shared
collection. It’s possible that we can manage limited-life titles this way as
well, but that is ultimately a decision our team can make with you during the
launch and implementation process. I know our team will be able to provide some
best practices for some of these situations including how to manage titles that
are seeing high demand.
I have received a flurry of order forms this month and met two independent
schools at ASCD this weekend that I believe will join BAISL just to become part
of the OverDrive shared collection. ☺
