Debra,
we have a small space at one end of the library I am building into a
makerspace. I have an interest in making things, and love to play with the
3D design software, arduino and so forth. The girls here make use of the
space with a monthly guided (somewhat) project - this month needle felting,
next month making key fobs with the 3D printer. The Engineering club also
does more substantial projects. As Jessica says - the girls can be very
independant, and just having the basics is a good place to start.
I would highly recommend visiting Jessica's space - it is well set up, and
well used!

Dear Colleagues,
If you have a Maker Space, who oversees the robotics, electronics, wood
shop, sewing, laser cutting, programing or a combination of these skills?
As a librarian with a Masters Degree in Library Science, my duties have
not incorporated many of these skills, especially sewing machines.
Please get back to me ASAP about your experience with the Maker Spaces on
your campus.
Thanks,
