MS TEACHER LIBRARIAN/INSTRUCTIONAL TECHNOLOGIST (FTE: 1.0)
The Full-time Teacher Librarian/Instructional Technologist is responsible
for supporting the library program and integrating technology into the
classroom.
Crystal Springs Uplands School, a coeducational independent day school in
Hillsborough, California serving students in grades 6-12 on two campuses is
seeking an enthusiastic, creative, dynamic, and collaborative teacher
librarian and instructional technologist. The successful candidate will
play a leading role in the exciting process of developing the CSUS Middle
School library program as the Middle School moves to a new campus in
August, 2017. This will include creating and integrating an effective
research curriculum, utilizing print, media, and database technologies,
assisting the Director of Educational Technology with tech integration
across the curriculum, and identifying opportunities for the library to
support curricular units in all subject areas. Primary responsibilities
include overseeing the library and its collection and working with students
to ensure they acquire researching skills.
Below are specific attributes, experiences and skills for both aspects of
the positions
The ideal Middle School Teacher Librarian:

Works with the CIO and the Upper School Librarian to develop and deliver
the new Learning Commons educational program
● Establishes and maintains a welcoming, well-used and
well-supervised space that supports the
CSUS learning community

Processes the Middle School library catalog, library webpages, and
library research guides
● Collaborates with teachers to support the effective integration
of information and
communication skills and technologies to enhance student
learning
● Teaches students, staff and community how to access, evaluate,
use, share, and create
information from a variety of sources
● Models and promotes literacy and the enjoyment of reading in all
media formats
● Develops the collection of print and electronic materials to
support reading for pleasure as well
as the school's educational curriculum
● Works as a full member of the Middle School teaching team,
including serving as a student
advisor and other duties as needed
● Supports the school’s communication strategies, including
communication with the community
about the Learning Commons resources and programs
● Assists with supervisory and chaperoning duties as required
● Develops an integrated curriculum

Assists in managing the entire collection: acquisition, cataloging,
weeding, and circulation of all materials

Manages magazine subscriptions and routing

Participates in the activities of the broader Crystal School community,
which may include advising a student book club
The ideal Middle School Instructional Technologist:

Enjoys collaborating with students and colleagues

Has experience developing, supporting, and monitoring implementation of
technology initiatives.

Is able to instruct faculty who possess different levels of technical
proficiency.

Communicates and collaborates effectively with faculty, administration,
and students.

Possesses strong interpersonal, problem solving and organizational
skills to effectively facilitate peer coaching, staff development, and
student technical support.

Has a working knowledge of educational technologies and basic computer
troubleshooting skills

Has device knowledge of iPad, Chromebook and Mac

Has a working knowledge of Google Apps for Education

Facilitates school-based high quality professional development, working
with teachers (one-on-one and in groups) to refine their knowledge and
skills around using technology as a tool to enhance instruction across all
content areas

Provides in-class coaching, peer observation and modeling of classroom
instructional strategies and multiple technologies (software/hardware);
develops technology infused lesson plans with teachers based on varied
student needs

Works collaboratively with the Librarian(s) to integrate research skills
into the classroom

Support students, teachers and staff at all levels of expertise in their
progress at using technology
-
Collaborates with the school’s curriculum leadership and the Technology
Department to plan and facilitates the most effective use of instructional
technology.

Keeps abreast of and evaluate emerging technologies and technology
integration through professional growth and development activities.

Provides professional learning opportunities aligned with National
Educational Technology Standards (NETS-T) and assists teachers in
developing professional development plans involving technology integration.

Assists the Technology Department in their 1:1 iPad monitoring,
collection, MDM Configuration and regular deployment of all student and
faculty iPads.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will have:

MLS/MLIS from an ALA-accredited institution (or be currently enrolled in
such a program) or comparable experience

Three years of experience working with and enjoyment of Middle and Upper
school students

Fluency in using and teaching information literacy skills

Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional educational environment. This role
routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones,
photocopiers, filing cabinets.
Physical Demands
- This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing and lifting is
required. This would require the ability to lift files up to 40 lbs., open
filing cabinets and bend or stand as necessary.
