Hi Debra,
I love Marin libraries that I think support 21 century learners.
Marin day school- the library is at the heart/center of the campus, there are
glassed off rooms to the side for small classes/lap tops or iPads, a separate
story time room, ample lighting, display space, low shelves for easy access,
seating which allows for small group work, all stacks are moveable to allow for
a flexible space, student services are collated as is the technology support
group. If you haven't seen it, it's a must.
This is a link to the American Institute of Architects web page showing some of
the library design. I have a lot of photographs I could send you when I'm back
in town.

Hope that helps!

Dear Colleagues,
I know many of you are on summer vacation, but I am still finalizing my
schematic design for a dream K-4 library. If you have a library program which
represents the ideal of a 21st century library building design, please send
me a link. If you have seen a design in School Library Journal, visiting a
Lower School Library in your area, please pass on information.
I have been searching on ALA for award-winning elementary school designs, and
I have not found anything that works for me in regards to space, shelving,
storytelling tiered seating, etc., If you have seen an outstanding children's
K-4 library space, please pass on the information.
If possible, I meet with architects at 1:00 p.m pacific standard time, so
sending anything before our meeting would be great.
Appreciate any information or links.
Thanks,
Debra Cardone, Librarian
