Yes, in the beginning of the year kindergartners check out one book each
week. In January if they are doing a great job returning their books, they
get two books each week. I also do send home a few letters through the year
reminding parents about book care and returning books on time, but they are
so excited to get books that they do a great job remembering them each
week. Last year, our kindergartners actually turned in all their books on
time at the end of the year, and we are a K-8 school, and they got a big
ice cream party because they were the most responsible class in the whole
