I used to work at a school with N and PK. The students were allowed to
check out a book to their classroom, but they had to stay at school. This
worked very well. All parents had accounts, too, and many of them came in
to check out books for their children to take home.

We start the year with one book per week for Kinders. This trial period
lasts for about 2-3 weeks. After that, the checkout rule is 3 books per
week IF you have brought all your books back (or have let us know the book
is possibly lost/or can’t be found); 1 book if you did not bring all your

Note we have a celebration routine just before long breaks (multiple weeks)
