One size fits all does not work even in pantyhose. However, the larger the department the bigger the problem of having a range of weapons for the masses, as there are a lot of issues regarding training, liability, department procurement policies etc. So the bigger they are, the more the need for commonality. As to holster selection, that is really personal to the officer and their physical structure and preferences. The new holsters such as Sandy has mentioned I would think needs to have training go with being issued, as this is going to change all the muscle memory methods she has ingrained within herself. This really needs to apply to the 'old farts' as under stress, you know exactly what they are going to do. This of course applies to the weapon too.CD -----Original Message-----From: badges-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:badges-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Christopher KarneySent: Wednesday, May 25, 2011 9:35 AM To: badges@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Cc: <badges@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Subject: Badges - Re: My pistolthat's why I don't like the one size fits all practices of some PDs. it doesn't take individual preferences into account. We get a list of approved weapons and equipment and just choose (and buy) for ourselves.Sent from my iPhone On May 25, 2011, at 10:10, "Sandy" <tsand59@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx> wrote:I have carried a Stainless Colt Commander since 1983 but the department has decided to issue weapons. They issued me a 357 Sig and I qualified yesterday. Handles different from the Colt but shoot very well. Now if I can get used to the holster. It has the hood that covers the weapon with a thumb release.Sandy ----- Original Message ----- From: "CarlGlas" <CarlGlas@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> To: <badges@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Tuesday, May 24, 2011 10:22 PM Subject: Badges - Re: My pistolWhen I got the GCT I retired my .357 Magnum wheel gun and have been carrying it as a duty weapon ever since.Like American Express, I don't leave home without it! ;) ----- Original Message ----- From: "Ron Thomason" <r4445@xxxxxxx> To: <badges@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Tuesday, May 24, 2011 9:59 PM Subject: Badges - Re: My pistolI have a Ed Brown .45 the Special Forces model with no markings on it. If so, who did you have do the polish andchrome for you? BTW this is the 100th anniversary of the 1911! I see you kept the original sights. I have two Gold Cups, but I am trying to get my first one back from Jim Hoag. It will have the old Bomar rear sight on it which I have had since the 80's and never installed. Can't get them anymore which is a shame. Did you keep the Gold Cup sear and spring? Most people don't that the little pin to hold it all together when you reassemble it so the leave them out. BTW, you can order the parts direct from Midway USA ifyou need them.
