Dean, After seeing your fantastic 20Da pictures at the TAAA meeting a couple of months ago I decided to get one to play with. I'm a relative newbie to imaging so the convenience of the 20Da appealed to me. I don't expect to get images of the quality you're producing, but I hope to get better with experience. Saturday night was excellent at the Texas Star Party as well, and I decided to attempt an image of the Sagittarius star clouds to finish off a great week of star partying. Dean Salman helped me figure out how to handle some problems I was having with autoguiding a few nights earlier, so I piggybacked the camera on my guided LX200 and set it for a single 10-minute exposure. I wasn't sure what ISO speed to use so I arbitrarily chose 400. The lens was a variable at 24mm and f/ratio was 5.6. You can see my result at http://www.schlottmancpa.com/xanadu/TSPStarClouds043006.jpg. I really have not used this camera very much for astrophotography yet. I still need to learn a lot including how to process the pictures to bring out details, smoothing and sharpening etc., but in general I'm pretty excited about the results so far. Plus, it takes great pictures of my wife and kids. BTW I hope I have not violated any rules by posting a Texas observation on the AZ observing list... ;-) Clear Skies, Keith Schlottman -- See message header for info on list archives or unsubscribing, and please send personal replies to the author, not the list. -- See message header for info on list archives or unsubscribing, and please send personal replies to the author, not the list.
