This is probably of more interest to photographers than anybody, but there will be a rare opportunity to see two naked-eye comets within 30 degrees of each other next month. In mid-April, Comet Ikeya-Zhang should be hanging in there around magnitude 4 and Comet Utsunomiya will have hopefully brightened to magnitude 6. From Arizona, the latter is less than 10 degrees above the eastern horizon at astronomical twilight. I have posted a four-panel figure at: http://www.psiaz.com/polakis/comets/comets_0402.jpg Tom --- Tom Polakis Tempe, AZ Arizona Sky Pages http://www.psiaz.com/polakis/ -- This message is from the AZ-Observing mailing list.
