Lindsay Sue & I set up chairs in the back yard. Sue saw it first just after staging. She had though it would go straight up so she just said what's that over there? I practically screamed "THAT"S IT" We watched as the second stage exhaust plume spread wider than I'd of imagined. Through my 15x70's I could see the pinpoints that were the engines. After shutdown I was able to follow it for a while in the binos. Lindsay was able to follow it in binos (7x35's) as well (and she had her amblyopia patch on. The first stage trail eventually took on a helix shape the color were as said earlier took on a nebulous appearance. Very cool! I was driving out west on I10 a few years ago and they launched one about 8pm on the winter night (month unknown). It appeared to rise straight up out of the median a few miles away, I thought some truck had exploded at first. :<) Hopefully we will get future heads up when they do this again.
