The listserv doesn’t have an issue with smartphones, per se, but rather emails that come in as HTML-encoded only with “graphics designed paper" (the RFC states that HTML mail should include both the HTML and the plain text versions of the content which implies that the sender’s mail client isn’t RFC compliant). Folks sending form smartphones can solve this by setting their output to “Text Only” in their mail app. It also only seems to affect certain phone types since I send from my iPhone regularly.
