Correct me if I'm wrong AJ, but I believe the rules are that you have to
observe the object with your eye through the main eyepiece of the
telescope.
To be eligible for SAC recognition, you have to participate in the event at
Farnsworth Ranch.

To extend this a little further. AJ, is there a requirement that observing
the M object has to be through a telescope _at_ the MM site? 
Could someone show up in their big Class A diesel pusher RV, with all the
comforts of home, and, if it is not possible now maybe in the future when
it is, communicate through sattelite with their robotic telescope at their
permanent observatory, and view the objects on their lap top inside the
warmth of their RV with a cup of hot chocolate on hand?
