[AZ-Observing] Re: The Journey to Palomar on PBS

That is great to hear! After finishing the book "the Perfect Machine" I
wanted to do some more reading in the same vein. A "Palomar" recommendation
was "first light" so I bought an orphaned copy off of Amazon last week as
well as a copy of the DVD "Journey to Palomar" from PBS. Looks like it
should all dovetail together quite nicely! I didn't pay much attention to
Saturn this morning but was looking for Leonids. Does make for a long day

Steve,

Actually, you have only seen one-third of it, as it ran from 10:30 to
midnight. I snoozed through the middle half hour of it, not because it was
boring, but because I was up looking at Saturn that morning. The last half
hour had a lot of great footage from the construction. The most
interesting interviewee appeared to be Richard Preston, who wrote, "First
Light."

Well;

I am certainly happy that Jimmy posted this information. I set up the DVR
to record this program. It is named "Road to Palestine" in the cox
communication database, but it was at the right time. Sorry to say that it
was given as a half hour program when it actually is a one hour program.
Therefore, I have seen half of it and look forward to a more extended
viewing in the future.

Hi Joe,

One would have hoped! The release date IS 10 Nov. but it doesn't appear that
it is going to show here until 17 Nov at 10:30 PM. One can buy the video in
advance for about $35 shipped. As I'm just finishing up the book "The
Perfect Machine", the book the documentary was based on, it would have been
very nice to see it this Monday (will read your review to see how we
compare). Looks like a week's wait for AZ....

As far as I can tell, for the Phoenix area this program will be shown on
KAET channel 8 on Monday, November 10 at 10:00 p.m.

Here's a review of the book "The Perfect Machine" that I wrote for the EVAC
