Moon mosaics are quite easy to create, which is why I am doing them. Take the images such that there's about 25% overlap between them. Since this is extreme telephoto photography, there's really not much distortion at the corners to worry about. The lighting is constantly changing, so it's best to move in one direction along the terminator. Make sure that each of the frames that you are going to assemble have been created the same way, including processing for brightness and sharpening. For registering frames, I use Photoshop, and do it the old fashioned, manual way. After laying down the second frame, change its opacity to something like 50%. Now zoom way in on some craters, and line them up with the arrow keys. Turn the opacity back up to 100%, and viola, no seams! Work your way up the terminator with successive frames. Wayne Johnson pointed out a flaw in the previously posted mosaic that eluded me. It was certainly caused by inadvertently moving a layer that was off the screen at the time, so don't do that.
