For you pre-dawn observers, Bob Evans has discovered a new supernova in M74, which was reported on IAUC 8150. It is reported as mag. 13 and located on the southern spiral arm 13" east and 160" south of the nucleus (SN position: 1 36 42.7 +15 44 21 (J2000). This has been confirmed as a type II supernova, so shouldn't fade out too fast if it is close to maximum. \Brian -- See message header for info on list archives or unsubscribing, and please send personal replies to the author, not the list.
