Bill, I've usually bring my camp stove and some burgers, etc. Also I prefer to sleep in relative copmfort so I pack a tent & sleeping bag, Others don't mind the back of the truck (maybe I'd be that way as well if I didn't have a Saturn:). Nearest place to eat is in Gila Bend, about 30 mile from the site. as for "facilities" the desert is yours. I know we get a porta potty for the Sentinel Stargaze in April, but thats a ways off. Cell phone coverage worked for me at Sentinel last time I was there, that was on Sprint, Can't say aboutn other services. There is a rest area on I-8 about 2 miles from the exit, I imagine there is a repeater antena there, so you should proabably be able to aleast get roaming service, but don't hold me to that. I sure hope your wife asks questions first and shoots second when you get home:). Are we going to arrive early to work on the hole in the road? Also, as a newcomer to multi-night astro-camping I have a couple of questions. I have attended 5 or 6 star parties and stayed overnight, sleeping a few hours in the back of my pickup so I know how that works. But, for 2-3 nighters, what do folks do during the intervening daytime periods? What about food? Does everybody go somewhere or bring their own stuff? Are propane stoves allowed? What about bathroom facilities? Do you bring portable equip or find a spot in the desert? Do cell phones work at Sentinel; my Qwest phone did not work at the All AZ Star Party or Vekol Rd? Anything else I should know? The only remaining question is whether I can talk the wife into letting me stay 2-3 nights. She lays awake with my gun under the pillow when I am not home and is not in the best of moods when I return :o) Regards, Bill Wood Fountain Hills, AZ > > Matt, et al; > > Yes, I am planning a three nighter, also Matt.
