Jack, Teflon is slippery in a way that nylon is not. It almost feels as if it has been dipped in oil. It's weird. The stuff Thad has is pretty flexible, but then nylon strip 1/8" thick might be flexible too. I am also looking for a small piece of ebony-star laminate at least 12" by 12". The Teflon I have seen is mildly translucent, but then again, so might nylon . . . I have a big sheet of some milky-colored translucent material I got out of Pierre's junk pile but I don't know what it is. You can have a piece of that if you want. I have Verizon but once you exit the freeway it roams thru Tucson switching.
