To All, Just talked via Ham radio to Rick Tejera who is at 5MM. It sounded like there are three of them there. Currently mostly clear with an anvil building to the southeast. There have been some clouds the last couple of nights but always a clear part of the sky to observe. I will be making contact again tomorrow morning between 10 and 11 to get his observing report and give him the weather and Clear Sky Chart updates. More tomorrow. Jimmy Ray -----Original Message----- Subject: [AZ-Observing] Report from Antennas Howdy all; Well, we are down to just Matt Luttinen and me, but we are having a fun time. The weather has been cooperating, one night was a 7 out of 10 and last night started out at 8 out of 10 for transparency and got a little worse as the night progressed and some wind kicked up. All in all, two excellent nights so far. The problem is that we are getting some bugs. They don't seen to be biting or stinging, but having a gnat buzzing in your ear while trying to split a close double star or looking for fine detail in a cluster is difficult. Matt and I have slathered ourselves in insect repellant and that helps some, but they do come back. So, bring whatever your favorite insect sauce happens to be. We discussed some of the burning coil type of repellant that the manufacturers say will keep the bugs away from an outside area. I have never tried these, but if I drive into Quartzsite I will look into it. I wish the best for those of you going north, hope you get some good observing in also.
