Mesa Astronomy/Geology Society meets tomorrow, Saturday October 11 at 7 PM,  
Clubhouse Alta Vista Apartments, 1444 N. Recker Road, Mesa.  Members free, 
non-members $ 2.00.  
Dr. Marc W. Buie's talk will cover "Pluto, Charon & the rest of the outer solar 
system".
His Bio:
1980, B.S. in Physics from Louisiana State University
          Worked in the gravity wave detection lab as an undergraduate.

1984, Ph.D. in Planetary Sciences from University of Arizona.
          One of the first to do spectroscopy with a CCD camera.  Worked
          on studying the surface of Pluto.

1985-1988, Post-doctoral position at the University of Hawaii.
          Spent many, many nights observing on Mauna Kea on a variety of
          projects.  Some of which were:
             International Halley Watch (Schmidt photography of coma).
             Pluto-Charon mutual event observations.
             Occultation studies of the Uranian rings and Neptune ring arcs.

1988-1991, Assistant Astronomy, Space Telescope Science Institute,
               Baltimore, Maryland
          Helped develop planetary observing capabilities of HST.

1991-present, Astronomer, Lowell Observatory, Flagstaff, Arizona
          Current studies:
             Surface and atmosphere of Pluto
             Long-term monitoring of Triton
             Kuiper Belt Survey
             Physical observations of near-Earth objects (lightcurves and 
colors)
             Occultations
          Instrumentation work:
             Developing infrared imaging spectrograph for 1.8-m telescope
             Automation of 0.8-m telescope
             Development of new 4-m telescope in Northern Arizona
