I have done a polar alignment on my permanently mounted Meade 16" using the drift method. I have followed the procedure carefully and tracked a star on the computer screen to make it very accurate. The tracking to see if the star deviates from the reference line of where it should remain was for about 10-15 minutes. I think the polar alignment is right on, but I always wonder. Has anyone had the experience using the drift method and thinking the polar alignment is right on, but in reality it was quite far off?
