Some folks on these mailing lists may remember me doing a club presentation
about my six-week stint as an astronomical tour guide at a luxury safari lodge
in Namibia. Since the rangers are fully booked with daytime activities, the
lodge's arrangement has been to host amateur astronomers whose responsibility
is to give the tours to their guests. Other than the airfare to Africa, all of
the expenses are paid, including game drives and 5-star meals and lodging.

Astronomer positions are generally booked for a year or two in advance. I
recently learned that one of them who was assigned to work from mid-June
through the end of August had to bow out for health reasons, and there is an
opening. They are looking for a qualified person to work at the lodge during
these ten weeks. I am pretty certain that the time period is negotiable.

If you are interested, please contact me *off list*, and I will fill you in on
the nature of the job.
