Do you have a image of the Coombs photo you can send? I did not see an arc but instead a straightish like vein, but this may have been a function of my telescope size and the fact that because it was visual I could not collect as many photons as film or CCD. However, it was on the east side, unless my directions are confused, not at all an impossibility. When I turn the clock drive off, the west side of the cluster will be the first to hit the side of the eyepiece field of view. Right, or am I confused? If correct, then the dark vein was on the east side (i.e., the smallest area of the cluster is east of the dark vein) and either Coombs' photo is oriented wrong, or ...? I did see a dark vein - power of suggestion? Possible, but I had observed it for quite a long time, trying different eyepieces. If I can, which may not be possible, I will observe it tonight again.
