Although I normally don't comment on your photos, I really enjoy seeing
them, they are great and the information very informative. I always
wondered where all the Gas comes from in the universe, and now I know it
must be coming from all those rings of asses out there in the galaxies!
:) hehe.
Thanks for the info Bernard!

Hi,
This is an image of NGC660. It is a polar ring galaxy about 45 million
light
years away in the constellation Pieces. A polar ring galaxy is one in
which
an out ring of ass and stars rotates over the poles of the galaxy.
These are
thought to be formed when a passing galaxy strips material from the
galaxy
or when a smaller galaxy collides orthogonally with the galaxy. The
ring on
this galaxy is not actually polar, but at a 45 degree incline. It may
be
that I have a unique positioning but I am surprised it has not been
dubbed
the Crucifix Galaxy. I struggle a lot with the background on this one.
I
think the background won, but it was not for lack of trying.
Suggestions and comments welcomed.
