Great job Jon!! Another stunning desktop wallpaper for my computer!! This would be another good one for the pontiff to ponder over (maybe the 2008 Vatican calendar?) The overwhelming majority of recent photos of this object contain Hydrogen Alpha filtered luminance data to mute out the stars and enhance the nebulosity. This photo is straight LRGB (unfiltered luminance, red, green and blue). http://christensenastroimages.com/nebula/ngc281.htm There's a lot going on in this area of star formation with some very large and powerful young stars powering the emission nebulosity. Bok globules, pillars and other interesting things are visible in the photo. This object is also known as the Pac Man nebula.
