http://homepage.mac.com/gregaskins/PhotoAlbum8.html We actually had some clear skies in Chandler Sunday night, so I tried connecting my new ToUcam up to my ETX-125 and iBook. I have never tried any astrophotography before, but it was pretty cool seeing Mars live on the computer screen. The seeing did not seem very stable, but I was able to capture a few moments of relatively stable images for some stacking and processing. I think I was observing/recording approximately the same section of Mars seen in the computer-generated photo at this site (north is up in both my photo and the computer-generated one): http://skyandtelescope.com/observing/objects/planets/article_985_1.asp BTW, look how small the polar cap is predicted to be by the end of August. I think my reds are probably too pronounced (I'm planning on playing with restacking and Photoshop some more), but it was a LOT of fun to produce a reasonable image of Mars with an inexpensive USB webcam!
