Rick and Brian, I am Ken Burges' wife, Louise. As you may remember he
died January this year. I am trying to go through his equipment and determine
what I have and research using the web for what it sells as used equipment.
There are quite a few rings, both inged and unhinged. I'm assuming you measure
the inside diameter but is it millimeters or inches. i.e. using aruler I can
measure a little over 4 3/4" or 12.5mm. I don't always find anything using
these parameters and of course picture does not let me compare!

I feel very confused about all of this and realize there must be a better way.
Any help you can provide, please let me know. I am keeping Ken's email up
until things are more settled. He would have been sad to hear of the death of
Jeff Hopkins. I like to think of Ken being among the stars now and able to see
astronomical events as they happen.

Thank you. Louise

Thanks Brian. Beautiful image. Our club contributed to the refurb
fund, and oviously the money was well spent. Curious though ... I
thought the refurb was all mechanical, but now I'm wondering if you
did anything to the optics? Aligning, polishing, coating? -Dan Heim, DFAC.

The optics per se were untouched, though they were very well cleaned since
they were out of the cell.
(The lenses were cleaned in-situ every couple years, but access to the surfaces
is not very convenient.) The lens cell itself was completely gone over as part
of the work so that it is clean and smooth and with modern lubrication so that
it won't oxidize etc.
As I mentioned when I posted in May about the telescope being reinstalled,
I'd highly recommend that you invite Ralph Nye to come to your club to talk
about the extraordinary details of the refurbishment process.

\Brian
