This is the same comment I've been making to myself
about Tom Polakis's asteroid lightcurves from his
Tempe backyard. A recent example from his 30cm telescope and
CCD is linked below. As you can see from the magnitude scale
on the left (these are Sloan r' [red] magnitudes), the scatter
on the fit to the data is less than 0.01 mag. Between the
wonders of mod'un technology and careful technique,
you can get some nice publishable science results out,
even from the big city.
